What Will The Program Do For You?
CHILDREN- You will learn to take control of your health and happiness. You will also learn to achieve, full life so that food and TV are less important. You will discover how to talk about your feelings and strategies to stop any teasing that is going on in school.
PARENTS- You will learn to let go of the guilt and frustration about your child's weight as you put into practice positive changes in your family's lifestyle and communication.

NO. Children come in all sizes and shapes that are perfectly normal. The goal of Wellness Works for Kids is to build a healthy self esteem and positive body image, while being introduced to new and different fun activities that promote physical activity.
Is The Program Effective?
YES, participants have lost weight, improved their self-esteem, diet and exercise habits, and weight management knowledge. However, progress varies depending upon the child and family.
Is There A Diet?
- NO. Diets typically cause children to feel deprived and as a consequence, they often overeat. Wellness Works for Kids supports gradually adopting a moderate food intake that provides essential nutrients based on the Recommended Dietary Allowance from the new USDA food pyramid.
What Else Is Addressed?
A wide range of strategies to help children and parents take control of their emotional and physical health. For example, children learn techniques to effectively stop peer teasing and families learn communication techniques to resolve conflicts.
Weight Management Program for Children & Teens
Wellness Works for Kids stresses overall fitness, including endurance, flexibility and strength. Children and parents develop a more active lifestyle and replace television viewing and other inactive pursuits with household chores, special interests, sports, and projects.

Girls on the Run® is a life-changing, experiential learning programs for girls age eight to thirteen years old. The programs combine training for a 3.1 mile running event with self-esteem enhancing, uplifting workouts.
